Health ministry confirms 171 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 171 new COVID-19 cases over the last 18 hours, raising the national patient tally to 8,458.

Two more Coronavirus-related fatalities bring death toll to 52

The latest patients include five Vietnamese returnees and 166 local residents in Bac Giang (110), Bac Ninh (27), Ho Chi Minh City (25), Ha Tinh (two), Tien Giang (one), and Ha Nam (one).

Bac Giang and Bac Ninh remain the biggest COVID-19 hotspots with 2,929 and 1,025 out of the total 5,340 domestic cases reported since April 27 when the fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence broke out.

Ha Tinh and Tien Giang became the latest localities hit by the current COVID-19 wave./.
