Two more Coronavirus-related fatalities bring death toll to 52

VGP – A 63-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman became the latest Coronavirus-related deaths in Viet Nam, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday

The deceased man is a resident in the northern province of Hai Duong. He tested positive for the virus on May 7.

He suffered from ankylosing spondylitis and kyphosis for more than ten years, and got fever lasting for two months before being admitted to the Hai Duong provincial General Hospital on April 28.

The patient passed away on Friday morning with a diagnosis of septic shock and ARDS pneumonia caused by COVID-19 on the background of ankylosing spondylitis and kyphosis.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman is a resident in Lang Son City, the northern province of Lang Son.

She suffered from late-stage colon cancer which metastasized to her lungs, and was treated with chemotheraphy five times at the National Cancer Hospital in Ha Noi.

She tested positive for the coronavirus on May 17 and was transferred to the Duc Giang Hospital for further treatment. She then experienced fever and showed signs of progressive respiratory failure.

On May 22, she was taken to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District, Ha Noi, with pneumonia caused by COVID-19 with progressive respiratory failure, along with fungal infections.

Her health conditions continued to deteriorate and she passed away on Friday night.

This is the 16th and 17th COVID-19-related deaths in Viet Nam since May 15./.
