VN confident to fulfill most of sustainable development goals by 2030

VGP – Viet Nam is confident to realize or even fulfill most of the sustainable development goals prior to 2030, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the National Conference on Sustainable Development 2018 today.

The Government chief affirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of pursuing growth and environmental protection. Over the past time, the Government has strictly handled serious environmental breakdowns while making endeavor to restructure the economy towards environmentally friendly one.

The country also gained remarkable achievements in poverty reduction thanks to high growth and effective distribution policy, said PM Phuc, adding that about 7% of the Vietnamese population was multi-dimensionally poor by the end of 2017 and the average life expectancy increased to 73.5.

PM Phuc pointed out that reform and innovations are the vital factors for sustainable development, affirming the Government will create all favorable conditions for citizens to boost innovations and pledge to protect property rights and innovative ideas.

Underlining the importance of education as the key for all people, especially the youth to grasp knowledge, PM Phuc said Government commits to protecting learning opportunities for all.

The road ahead requires comprehensive solutions to improve productivity, competitiveness, quality of workforce as well as capacity to access the fourth industrial revolution, he stressed./.
