The event will be organized by the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the World Bank (WB).

Under the theme “Enhancing competitiveness, realizing sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the fourth Industrial Revolution”, the conference is expected to bring together about 600 representatives from ministries, industry, international organizations, embassies, experts in the field, and the business community.

The ideas raised at the Conference will contribute to promoting the implementation of the action programs of the Government and the private sector, aiming to improve productivity and competitiveness towards sustainable development in the digital era.

The conference will also discuss and disseminate up-to-date information on directions, plans, programs and initiatives that the Vietnamese Government, ministries, localities, and international organizations are working on, seeking to improve the business environment, while enhancing national competitiveness towards the goal of sustainable development.

Participants will update and share information, knowledge and experience on sustainable development, in addition to the good practices and initiatives on sustainable business, as well as measures to promote and strengthen the cooperation between the Government, enterprises and social organizations, towards the successful implementation of the goal of sustainable development in Viet Nam.

At the plenary session this afternoon, the conference will hear reports on improving the business environment and enhancing the competitiveness in the Industry 4.0 (Ministry of Planning and Investment); economic reforms and the future of employment in Viet Nam (WB); public-private partnerships to promote business environment and improve competitiveness (VCCI); innovation and Industry 4.0 (Ministry of Science and Technology); and lessons learned from smart city building in Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2015, Viet Nam, along with 192 United Nations member countries, officially adopted 17 key SDGs of the 2030 Agenda.

In order to realize these 17 SDGs, in May 2017, the PM signed a decision on issuing a national action plan to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
