Currently living in Ho Chi Minh city, Tru has eleven children, only two of whom are alive and are in their eighties, according to the Viet Nam Book of Records (Vietkings) which made public the WRA’s announcement in HCM City on April 23.

Her daughter-in-law, 76 year old Nguyen Thi Ba, said that Mrs. Tru can live long thanks to her light heart, generosity and simple lifestyle.

She has lived a long healthy life and has never been hospitalised for severe illnesses.

Tru told local media that she credited her longevity to unselfishness, and that her favorite meal is rice porridge with milk, pork and a soft dessert.

The title previously belonged to a Japanese woman, Misao Okawa, who passed away on April 1st this year.
