World’s leading retailer expands its coverage in VN

VGP – Metro Cash & Carry, one of the world’s biggest retailers, is planning to open its 10th center in Việt Nam.

Metro Cash & Carry today conducted the ground-breaking ceremony of a new center in Long Xuyên City of the southern province of An Giang.

The center, which is the 2nd one in the Mekong Delta, covers 3 hectares, including a 6,500-m2 sales space for over 25,000 items of commodities.

Metro Cash & Carry Long Xuyên is scheduled to open on the National Day (September 2, 2010), creating over 400 new jobs for local residents and serving clients in An Giang and Cambodia as well.

According to Mr. Randy Guttery, General Director of Metro Cash & Carry Việt Nam, the Group recognizes Việt Nam’s Mekong Delta as a promised land. With over 17 million people engaging in agricultural production, the Delta is the largest provider of fresh food for the Metro Cash & Carry chain.
