The cave, located in the center of the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng Natural Park, is 200m wide, 150m high on average and 6.5km long.

According to Mr. Howard Limbirt, leader of the team, Sơn Đoòng is five times bigger than the well-known Phong Nha cave and even larger than Malaysia’s Deer Cave which is widely regarded as the world’s largest grotto.

The cave has naturally beautiful stalactites in various forms.

Together with Sơn Đoòng, 19 others were newly discovered by the UK explorers, stretching out as far as 34km. They were described “breathtakingly beautiful” by representatives of the World Cave Association.

The team has explored only 6.5km inside the cave. They plan to officially report their discovery to the local government soon for further exploration./.
