Weekly COVID-19 update

VGP – Viet Nam only confirmed five imported cases from September 14-21, raising the patient tally to 1,068.

September 21 marks the 19th straight day without community infection case of COVID-19 in the country.

Of the patient tally, 691 are local infection cases including 551 reported since July 25.

During the past week, 16 patients have been cleared of the virus, bringing the number of recoveries to 942.

So far, 35 patients have succumbed to the disease. Most of them are elderly people with serious underlying health conditions.

Out of current 126 active cases, 14 patients have tested negative once; 3 patients twice; and 22 others thrice.

As the pandemic has been brought under control, the Government has agreed for resumption of international commercial flights to/from six destinations, namely Guangzhou (China), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Chinese Taipei from September 15, and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Vientiane (Laos) from September 22./.
