Apart from helping farmers, the sum will assist businesses to build rice storage facilities and dryers.

The information was announced at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on May 12 on implementing large-scale rice field models in connection with rice production and trade in the Mekong Delta.

The WB project is being developed and expected to be carried out in 2015 in the first 25 district clusters where rice production and trade will be linked in a sustainable manner.

The Viet Nam Food Association (VFA) said that businesses should make good preparations to access the capital.

The VFA said that 16 members have registered to participate in the project on a trial basis in the 2014 summer-autumn crop and the 2014-2015 winter-spring crop. After reviewing the implementation, the VFA will include over 100 other member businesses in the project.

Earlier, the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that businesses taking part in the 2014-2015 trial period are selected in accordance with the Government decision on encouraging the linkage in farm production, processing and trade and the building of large-scale fields.
