The e-payment portal, the first of its kind in Việt Nam, will enable online trading and service transactions on the websites of goods and service providers using five most popular cards in the world, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Diners Club, with a safe and confidential solutions to card holder identification.
The Department of e-Commerce and Information Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that online payment is in the initial stage of development and has only been applied in buying air tickets, booking tours, and paying telephone charges and electricity bills.
Despite the global economic recession, e-commerce and online payment have been growing rapidly. Many enterprises in Việt Nam consider online payment as an effective means to cut costs, time and manpower in order to overcome crisis.
At the inauguration ceremony, a senior official from Smartlink expressed her hope that the e-payment portal will help connect the banking system and service providers so as to step by step popularize the use of e-payment tools.
