VN, WB cooperate in climate change adaption

VGP – Viet Nam is doing utmost to cooperate with the World Bank and the international sponsors to improve capacity and boost investment in respond to climate change, promote green growth and sustainable development.

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on August 25 chaired high-ranking talks between the National Committee for Climate Change and the World Bank delegation led by WB Vice President for Sustainable Development Rachel Kyte.

The talks aim to help the two sides comprehend challenges and difficulties Viet Nam is facing to cope with climate change, discuss measures to share Viet Nam’s experiences and challenges in response to climate change as well as promote green growth and the role of Viet Nam in the international community’s efforts to cope with climate change.

Ms. Rachel Kyte highly valued achievements in Viet Nam-WB cooperation in term of poverty reduction, climate change adaption, green growth and sustainable development.

WB leaders proposed specific recommendations for Vietnamese organizations and agencies to achieve the set goals.

Speaking at the talks, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai highly valued crucial and prompt assistance of the international sponsors, especially the WB, confirming that the Vietnamese Government’s concerns and its efforts in response to climate change.

Viet Nam identifies adaption to climate change as its crucial mission along with improving the effectiveness in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and joining hands with the international community to cope with climate change.
