VN, Venezuela spur linkages

VGP – The 2nd meeting of the Việt Nam-Venezuela Inter-governmental Committee was convened on April 18 in Caracas, Venezuela to seek ways to beef up linkages between the two countries.

Vietnamese Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải and Venezuelan Deputy PM and Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez co-chaired the meeting.

The host leader suggested the seven working groups within the Inter-governmental Committee focus discussions on practical issues to kick off cooperative projects for mutual benefits.

The Venezuelan Deputy PM said his country is interested in furthering cooperation in the areas of petroleum, agriculture, power and culture with Việt Nam.

Deputy PM Hải proposed the two sides implement the signed agreements on education, culture, tourism, sports, energy, petroleum, agriculture, forestry and seafood.

At the meeting, the seven working groups reached agreements to develop linkages in a number of areas.

The two sides agreed on three projects on rice cultivation, fish and shrimp breeding, rubber plantation, organization of the second Venezuelan Cultural Week in Việt Nam, software cooperation, production of computers and electronic spare parts, training of IT manpower, information security safety and telecom, maritime transportation and accommodation building.

They also discussed ways to churn out first batch of oil in the offshore Junin-2 oil and gas block in 2012./.
