VN, US expect multifaceted and stable cooperation

VNGOP – US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill paid a visit to Việt Nam on February 2-3 to discuss solutions to enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries. He had working sessions with representatives from the National Assembly Committee for External Affairs, Central Committee for External Work and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the meetings, the guests confirmed to give importance to the relationship with Việt Nam and boost the multifaceted and sustainable cooperation between the two countries. They also showed their gratitude to the Vietnamese Government and people for cooperation in dealing with the MIA issue.

The Vietnamese side stated that the two countries should develop the bilateral ties in a stable way commensurate to the Việt Nam-US Joint Declarations in May 2005 and November 2006 between high-ranking leaders for the sake of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability and cooperation in the region. Việt Nam asked the US to more actively engage in solving war consequences. Việt Nam also affirmed that the two countries should maintain regular dialogues to increase mutual understanding and respect.
