VN, UK ink MoU on prevention of human trafficking

The signing ceremony was held on the occasion of the Vietnamese Minister of Public Security’s working visit to London at the invitation of UK Inferior Minister Sajid Javid.

The two leaders held talks in which they welcomed outcomes of the bilateral cooperation especially in prevention of organized crime, cross-border crime, trafficking in persons and IT criminals. 

Minister Lam stressed that in 2018 the two countries mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The Vietnamese Government attaches importance to the relations with the UK and regards the UK as one of top priorities in Viet Nam’s foreign policy in favor of peace, cooperation, and development. 

The two sides have cooperated to prevent crimes and contribute to safeguarding national security and social order especially the prevention of trafficking in persons, environmental violation, high-tech crime, prevention of wildlife trade, and immigration management. 

In the coming time, the two ministries will maintain exchanges of delegations to share experience and professional information in prevention of human trafficking; exchange information and investigations of cases and criminal gangs; rescue, protect and conduct repatriation for victims of human trafficking; combat high-tech criminals, financial criminals, and prevent illegal immigration. 

The two countries will compose, negotiate, and early finalize procedures to sign an agreement on extradition and other cooperative documents which will create legal corridors for ministerial cooperation./.
