The northern province of Bắc Ninh has been studying and documenting many pieces from Đông Hồ in order to add this traditional form of painting to the country’s list of national cultural heritages.

Đông Hồ paintings reflect people’s innermost feelings, wishes, and simple dreams.

Because Đông Hồ paintings are mainly bought and displayed on the occasion of Tết, contents of pictures are often humorous, optimist with many bright and powerful colors like red, yellow or white.

The printing paper is made of bark of a tree called "Dó." The background paper is originally white.

The original point of Đông Hồ folk painting is the durability of colors.

The most popular and well sold pictures of Đông Hồ painting are Rat's wedding, Good luck wish, which represent the wish for prosperity, happiness and luck in the new year.
