Pesticides and chemicals must be carefully checked

By joining the Convention, Vietnam can enhance its international trading cooperation and the control over harmful chemicals and pesticides for human health and environmental reasons. As a member of the Convention, the country can reduce the import of harmful chemicals and pesticides as well as supplement the list of pesticides and industrial chemicals that are banned or severely restricted in Vietnam.

The Convention enables the participating countries to protect their national interests through protecting environment, producers’ health and safety of agro-produce users. This is also a good opportunity for Vietnam to share and exchange information with other members and receive technical aids to improve her capacity in managing and controlling chemicals and pesticides; and assist Vietnamese businesses and producers of chemicals and pesticides. The participation in the Rotterdam Convention proves Vietnam’s improved status in the process of international integration.
