VN to host 78th ICOLD meeting in late May

VGP - The 78th annual meeting of the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) will take place in Hà Nội from May 26 with the expected participation of 600-1,000 delegates from 90 member countries and international organizations.

The meeting will be accompanied with several activities, including an international conference with 17 topics and 180 scientific reports on dams and sustainable water resource development, round-table discussions on dams and hydroelectricity in Africa, and an exhibition showcasing well-known technical products.

Five field trips to Việt Nam’s dams from north to south, such as Hòa Bình, Sơn La, Cửa Đạt, Thảo Long, Phú Ninh, Định Bình, Hàm Thuận–Đa Mi, and Trị An, will be held for participants.

Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải, in his welcoming letter to the event, said the content of the 78th ICOLD Annual Meeting will certainly be useful for the construction of dams and water resources development in Việt Nam and also in other countries in the world.

The Việt Nam National Committee on Large Dams and Water Resources Development became an ICOLD member in 2005.
