VN to attend int’l bio-safety conference next month

VGP - Việt Nam will participate in the fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Bio-safety (MOP-5) and the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-10) in October in Nagoya, Japan.

Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm just agreed to form a delegation to these events.

MOP-5 will last from October 11-15 and COP-10 on October 18-29.

The Cartagena Protocol on Bio-safety focuses on safety of trans-border transport of genetically modified plants and animals.

Partaking in the Protocol in 2004, Việt Nam has not only developed biotechnology but also paid due attention to controlling and minimizing its risks to ensure human health, and protect environment as well as biodiversity.
