VN succeeds in protecting rights of immigrants

VGP – Viet Nam has launched effective measures in protecting and reducing the number of non-national female immigrants, stated Resident Representative of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Viet Nam Vu Anh Son.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the UNHCR organized a regional conference to improve social services for female immigrants on April 21.

MOLISA Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is actively cooperating with other governments to protect Vietnamese laborers working at these nations.

In addition, Viet Nam is an active member of the ASEAN Committee on the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers.

The Law on Vietnamese Nationality has been amended to guarantee the rights to nationality and citizenship for women getting married with foreigners as well as provide related information and knowledge for immigrants, the Deputy Minister added.
