The two sides hailed active developments in the two nations’ relations in general and the relations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, in particular, especially Sri Lankan Ranil Wickremesinghe’s official visit to Viet Nam in April 2017.

The two sides agreed to continue strengthening high-ranking delegation exchanges and people-to-people exchanges and soon organize the third Deputy-ministerial level political consultancy.

They consented to exchange specific measures to raise the two-way trade turnover to US$1 billion as agreed by their high-ranking leaders and facilitate their businesses to seek for further investment opportunities.

Both sides discussed issues of international and regional concerns, assenting to support each other at international and regional forums.

Sri Lanka promised to consider advocating Viet Nam’s candidacy for the post of UNESCO Director General in the 2017-2021 tenure and for a seat in the UN Security Council in 2020-2021.
