Responding to reporters’ queries on Viet Nam’s priorities and challenges when it is elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure, Hang stated that the UN General Assembly will vote on June 7, 2019 to elect five non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021, with Viet Nam being the only candidate of the Asia-Pacific region.

Vietnamese leaders will publish the country’s specific priorities when the election results are announced, she said.

Viet Nam will also take over the role as the ASEAN Chair 2020, Hang noted, adding that Viet Nam is actively making meticulous preparations for the assumption of these two important positions.

The success of Viet Nam’s political and external activities has seen significant contributions made by people of all strata. Therefore, communication work among all strata of people is of great importance, aiming to raise public awareness of the events and Viet Nam’s roles in regional and global affairs.

“We hope to receive the companionship of both domesicand foreign media agencies in communication work,” Hang said.
