Accordingly, natural gas, propane, butane, ethylene, propylene, butylene and butadien will be taxed at 5% and the rest types of gas at 1%.

The increase of the LPG import tax is to ensure the interests of the State, enterprises and consumers, help stabilize the market price, said the Ministry.

The Ministry of Finance had waived gas import tax from 5 percent in the face of the world's rocketing price of gas throughout 2007 into early 2008.
