 VN praises Iraqi Gov’t for reconstruction effort   

VGP – Ambassador Bùi Thế Giang, Deputy Permanent Representative of Việt Nam at the United Security Council (UNSC) highly spoke of the joint endeavor made by the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) and the International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) to put the UNSC-approved resolutions into action.

Addressing at a working session on operation of DFI and IAMB in Iraq on August 27, the Vietnamese diplomat highlighted the importance of the suggestions made by IAMB and international audit agencies, to empower DFI’s management capacity. The Ambassador also urged the Iraqi authorities to exercise self-reliance in the interest of Iraqi people.

The Ambassador also acknowledged the Committee of Financial Experts (COFE) and its effort to work with IAMB and other Iraqi relevant agencies to take over IAMB’s operation.    

Since IAMB and DFI will finish their missions in the year’s end, Ambassador Bùi Thế Giang urged the UNSC to quickly discuss and to consider reasonable regulations relating to the responsibilities carrying out by IAMB, DIF and COFE in order to find solutions helping Iraq to reconstruct its socio-economic and to re-integrate the country in the international arena.
