VN places importance on int’l cooperation for human rights

VGP – The State of Việt Nam attaches importance to international cooperation and promotes dialogues on human rights. And Việt Nam has actively taken part in many international human rights conventions and shaken hands with special mechanisms of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Việt Nam is actively participating in the UN forums and sessions on human rights

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on January 26, opened in Hà Nội the seminar “Việt Nam and UN human rights mechanisms: Some recent international cooperation activities.”

Delivering the opening speech, Deputy FM Bùi Thanh Sơn stated that the Party and State of Việt Nam always follow consistent policies of protecting and highlighting human rights. Over the past years, Việt Nam has mapped out and enforced numerous policies to secure human rights.

The diplomat also underlined that Việt Nam attaches importance to international cooperation and promotes dialogues on human rights by actively taking part in many international human rights conventions and shaken hands with special mechanisms of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

In this spirit, the Government of Việt Nam has invited the UN’s Special Rapporteurs and Experts on rights of healthcare, education, food, poverty alleviation, and impacts of foreign debts to visit Việt Nam in 2010 and the following years.

At the seminar, representatives of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security introduced some recent international cooperation activities and Việt Nam’s preparations for the approval of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (signed in 2007) and the accession to the Convention against Torture.
