VN, Paraguay hold political consultation

VGP - Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Cuong and Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Luis Fernando Avalo in Ha Noi on April 24 agreed upon a proposal to intensify delegation exchanges at all levels to deepen mutual understanding between Viet Nam and Paraguay at the first political consultation.

At the meeting in Ha Noi, Mr. Cuong told his guest Viet Nam attaches great importance to developing the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation for mutual benefit with Paraguay.
 
Luis Fernando Avalo expressed his admiration of Viet Nam’s tremendous renewal achievements and voiced a desire to strengthen relations and all-sided cooperation with Viet Nam.
 
They noted that bilateral ties are growing with two-way trade increasing fivefold from 2010 to about US$100 million in 2014, however there is still room for further expansion.
 
They underscored the need to establish business links and accelerate negotiations for the signing of cooperation documents aiming to gradually fine-tune the legal framework for the exchange of bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade investment, sea transport, agriculture, fisheries and mining.
 
Both sides pledged to promote affiliation and mutual support at international organisations, while co-ordinating closely in organisation of activities celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1995 -2015).
 
The two sides highlighted the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries as an important role in promoting the ties of friendship and cooperation.
 
In addition, both sides  discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, expressing support for the settlement of disputes through peaceful dialogues in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
