Ba Binh (Itu Aba) Island

When asked about Viet Nam’s response to Taiwan (China) launching live-fire drills on Ba Binh (Itu Aba) Island in Viet Nam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, Ms. Tra said that:

“Taiwan’s continuation of live-fire drills on Ba Binh Island in Truong Sa archipelago where Viet Nam has legal grounds and historic evidence to affirm its sovereignty, has seriously violated Viet Nam’s sovereignty, threatened security and safety of regional navigation and aviation, caused tensions, and complicated the situation."

Once again, Viet Nam resolutely opposes the mentioned-above action and demands Taiwan immediately cease all live-fire drills and refrain from such actions in the future.

Regarding the information that the Philippines expressed their concerns about China’s ability to deploy nuclear weapons to the East Sea, Ms. Tra said that Viet Nam supposes that the maintenance of peace, stability, safety and security of navigation and aviation in the East Sea is the interests, responsibilities and tasks shared by all nations in the region. Thus, all related sides must make contributions to this work.
