VN, Laos ink credit agreement to improve road

VGP – Road 2E, running from Meuangkhua (Laos) to Tây Trang (Việt Nam), connecting northern Laos and Việt Nam’s northwest, will be upgraded to facilitate the travel of local residents as well as economic exchanges between the two countries.

A credit agreement worth of US $43 million for the project was inked this monring in Hà Nội by Vietnamese Finance Minister Vũ Văn Ninh and his Lao counterpart Somdy Douangdy.

This is the second infrastructure project in Laos receiving loans from Việt Nam.

Earlier, Road 18B was inaugurated in May 2006, linking Atapu in Laos and Kon Tum in Việt Nam.

The two roads are necessary traffic foudnation for the neighbor’s economic development and bilateral cooperaiton between Laos and Việt Nam.
