VN, Laos celebrate 55th year of diplomatic ties in Malaysia

VGP - The embassies of Viet Nam and Laos in Malaysia have hosted a ceremony to mark the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and the 40th year of the Viet Nam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Speaking at the event, Lao Ambassador Houmdaophone Soukhaseum, recalled the long-standing relations between Viet Nam and Laos nurtured by late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and late Lao Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Suphanuvong. 


The friendship has been a valuable asset of the two Parties, States and people, he said, adding that it will stay forever, contributing to the two countries’ development and the global and regional peace, stability, cooperation and growth.

Vietnamese Ambassador Le Quy Quynh in his remarks highlighted the event as opportune occasion for embassy staff to meet and enhance their coordination at work.

The ceremony featured art performances and traditional dishes of the two countries.

Those in attendance included about 100 Vietnamese and Lao diplomats and embassy staff.
