VN, Laos and Cambodia join hands to promote tourism

VGP – The Governments of Việt Nam, Laos and Cambodia should invest more in tourism infrastructure for their respective provinces located in the Development Triangle, creating favorable conditions for travel and new tourist products.

This was one of focuses put forth by many delegates to an international seminar titled “Tourism development in the Development Triangle” organized by Việt Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism last week in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai in order to implement the project “Three nations-One destination”.

The event was considered a good opportunity for experts and policy-makers of the three countries to discuss and look for new chances of tourism development.

It was reported that at the seminar, a Joint Cooperation Steering Committee was established for the implementation of the Vientiane Declaration 2004 on the Development Triangle and the region’s overall planning scheme.

Not only sharing many cultural similarities, Việt Nam, Laos and Cambodia have traffic convenience and a lot of UNESCO-recognized tourist attractions. The Development Triangle at their boder T-junction covers ten provinces, including Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Đắk Lắk and Đắk Nông (Việt Nam); Attapu, Xekong and Salavan (Laos), Stung Treng, Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri (Cambodia).
