VN-Korea Institute of Science and Technology makes debut

VGP – The Viet Nam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (V-KIST) will make contributions to Viet Nam’s development, and spread the core value of a new approach in scientific and technological research across the entire society, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has said.

The deputy PM made the remark at the inaugural ceremony of the V-KIST in Ha Noi on November 21.

He stated that the establishment of V-KIST demonstrates the urgent need for the strong renovation of the management and governance mechanisms, as well as the working methods, in research work in Viet Nam, which is aimed at promptly bringing science and technology achievements into reality to meet the renewal demand.

The V-KIST is a nonrefundable aid project from the Republic of Korea for Viet Nam, aiming to accelerate the science and technology partnership between the two countries, whilst meeting the development needs of Viet Nam.

Operating under the model of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), V-KIST promises to be a friendly environment for research work, as each scientist will be provided with the most favourable conditions to freely perform their job.

* At the launching ceremony, the V-KIST leaders signed a memorandum of agreement with the KIST, as well as memoranda of cooperation with the Viet Nam National University, Hanoi, the Ha Noi Department of Science and Technology, the Vietnamese military-run telecom giant Viettel and the Traphaco Joint Stock Company.
