A fisheries market in Việt Nam
As a cooperating non-member of WCPFC, from now on, Việt Nam’s processed products from tuna and swordfish can be exported to all over the world, without facing any obstacle.

By joining WCPFC, Việt Nam shows its determination and desire in sharing regional joint efforts to manage tuna and swordfish products as well as preserve and develop the resources.

The move also helps Việt Nam avoid technical obstacles to exports from Việt Nam to its crucial markets such as Europe, the US and Japan.

WCPFC, a regional fisheries organization, based in the Federated States of Micronesia, was established in June 2004. Its aim is to control and preserve tuna/swordfish in the Western and Central Pacific areas as well as mitigate negative effects on other resources.

WCPFC now has 27 official members and five cooperating non-members. The tuna reserves managed by WCPFC account for 60% of the world’s reserves.
