VN, Japan promotes defense cooperation

Deputy Minister of Defense, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army Phan Van Giang made that statement on January 7 while hosting a reception for Chief of the Staff of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force General Yoshinari Marumo. 

At the meeting, Mr. Giang expected that the visit will strengthen friendship, cooperation and mutual support between the two defense ministries and the two air forces in particular. 

The sharing of information and experience in flight safety, aviation medicine and rescue have raised mutual understanding between both sides, he asserted.

He also affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense is always ready to offer all possible support to the two air forces to fully and effectively realize set agreements. 

For his part, Mr. Yoshinari Marumo said Japan – Viet Nam ties have kept growing in diverse areas over the past years, with defence ties becoming an important pillar, expressing his belief that the visit will open up new cooperation opportunities for the two armies and air forces in particular.
