VN, Japan hold third defence policy dialogue

VGP - The third Viet Nam-Japan defence policy dialogue was held in Ha Noi on January 29.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, while Vice Defence Minister Tokuchi Hideshi headed the Japanese delegation.

Two sides reviewed bilateral defence cooperation over the recent past and discussed regional issues of shared concern.

The leaders agreed the two ministries will maintain defence policy dialogues at deputy ministerial level while continuing to exchange delegations at different levels.

They will also assist each other in personnel training and share experience in coping with natural disasters, conducting search and rescue and overcoming consequences of bombs and mines left over by the war.
 
Two sides consented to boost defence ties in the interests of the two countries’ people and for the sake of peace, stability and development in the region and the world as a whole.

During his stay in Viet Nam, the Japanese Vice Minister for Defence is scheduled to visit some  units of the Viet Nam People’s Army.
