Mr. Seyed Javad Shavam Shahidi emphasized at the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Iran, which was held this morning, August 4, in Hà Nội by the Việt Nam Union of the Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We highly valued Việt Nam's precious assistance to us over the past time. Việt Nam will always be a trusted friend of Iran,” the Ambassador stressed.

Speaking at the anniversary, VUFO Deputy Chairman Trần Trọng Khánh expressed his belief that the bilateral relationship will be seriously promoted by the two governments and peoples to benefit the two countries, the regions and the world.

Việt Nam is actively setting up the Việt Nam-Iran Friendship Association to help boost the traditional ties and mutual understanding among the citizens of the two countries.

Việt Nam-Iran diplomatic ties have been continuously consolidated through high-ranking visits made by leaders of the two countries.

The two countries set up in 1994 an intergovernmental committee for economic and trade cooperation. Their two-way trade turnover increased from US $30 billion in 2002 to US $80 billion in 2007.

An Iranian business delegation, including 27 top enterprises operating in the areas of petroleum, petrochemistry, tourism, mechanics, and construction materials, led by Mr Asghar Khamavi, Vice President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, paid a working visit to Việt Nam from July 21-27 to seek for investment opportunities.
