VN, Indonesia enhance cooperation in palm oil, paper trade

VGP – The Indonesian Embassy in Viet Nam on July 26 organized a conference themed “Viet Nam, Indonesia enhance cooperation in palm oil and paper trade”, aiming to assist Vietnamese businesses in seeking further cooperation opportunities with Indonesia in this field.

Speaking at the event, Indonesian Ambassador to Viet Nam Ibnu Hadi affirmed that the relationship between Viet Nam and Indonesia have been tightened.

In 2016, the two-way trade turnover reached US$5.6 billion. The two nations’ leaders have committed to raising the bilateral trade value to US$10 billion by 2018.

In 2016, paper ranked third among largest export items to Viet Nam, achieving US$181 million, followed by animal and vegetable oil with US$161 million, said Mr. Ibnu Hadi.

To promote cooperative relations more intensively, Ambassador Ibnu Hadi supposed that the two sides need to encourage related ministries, agencies and business community to enhance information exchange and investment promotion to make contribution to the establishment of the ASEAN Community.
