The German side spoke highly of Viet Nam's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration and the nation’s crucial role and status in ASEAN and in the Asia-Pacific region, saying this is an important foundation for the two sides to enhance cooperation in the coming time.
The two sides agreed to promote exchange of delegations at all levels in the time ahead, especially between their ministries, agencies, localities and enterprises; and join hand to build programs to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam - Germany diplomatic ties in 2020.
Andreas Michaelis accepted with pleasure Deputy FM Son’s invitation to visit Viet Nam and promised to arrange a visit to Viet Nam for a strategic dialogue between the two countries’ foreign ministries.
The pair expressed delight at the development of the German House project in Ho Chi Minh City and effective operation of the Germany-Viet Nam University in the southern province of Binh Duong, which are expected to contribute to promoting the bilateral trade and investment ties.
The German side highly appraised the effective cooperation with Viet Nam at international and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the ASEAN-EU and Viet Nam’s implementation of international commitments.
Both sides show their support for a global multilateral order and trading system.
They highlighted the importance of the European Union-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Germany asserted to promote the signing and ratification of the agreement.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation at other areas such as justice and the United Nations peace-keeping operations.
They also exchanged views on issues of international and regional concerns, including East Sea, relations between Germany and ASEAN and ASEAN-EU relationship.
