VN enjoys trade surplus of US$24 bln with U.S.

VGP – As of September this year, Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$24.1 billion with the U.S., equivalent to 78% of the total trade turnover.

In September only, the nation earned US$3.62 billion from exporting to the U.S., raising the total export value in nine months to US$31 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. 

As many as eight items were listed in US$ 1 billion export club. 

Garment exports took the lead with US$9.25 billion in nine months, up 9.5% and making up 30% of the total export value. 

The exports of footwear occupied the second position with US$3.76 billion, up 13.7% and accounting for 12%. 

It was followed by phones and accessories, wood and wooden products and computers, electronics and spare parts with US$2.89 billion, US$2.36 billion and US$2.41 billion, down 7.4%, up 18.8% and up 12.5%, respectively. 

Other items making the export turnover of more than US$1 billion included machines and tools (US$1.81 billion), aquatic products (US$1.05 billion) and handbags, suitcases and umbrellas (US$1.04 billion).
