Addressing the seminar attended by representatives from nearly 100 enterprises of the two countries, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Diệp Kỉnh Tần said the volume of Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and marine products exported to North Africa, especially Egypt, is still low, not equivalent to potential and demand of the two sides.

The Egyptian side proposed Việt Nam to assist it in scientific research and education, send aquaculture experts to Egypt, and intensify investment in processing agro-products there.

At the seminar, many Egyptian firms showed their interest in Vietnamese tra, basa fish, prawns, tea, coffee, and coconut pulp. During the event, companies of the two countries managed to seek and establish partnerships.

Việt Nam earned over US $63 million from exporting marine products to Egypt in 2008, up from US $20.4 million in 2007 and US $4.4 million in 2006.
