VN conveys message of free trade and connectivity at APEC

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc returned to Ha Noi on Sunday, wrapping up his tour to Papua New Guinea to attend the 26th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting from November 17-18.

Viet Nam commits to pursuing free trade and extensive international integration.

During his tour, the Government chief joined various events of the meeting and had bilateral contacts with counterparts from New Zealand, Vanuatu, Thailand as well as businesses investing in Viet Nam.

At all the events and contacts, PM Phuc conveyed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of accelerating free trade and investment, economic connectivity, sustainable and digital economy development.

He called on APEC to continue creating new driving forces for inclusive growth so that no one would be left behind as this is the only way for APEC to consolidate its role as the leading economic forum.

APEC needs to be the pioneer in fostering a multilateral trading system that is open, inclusive, fair and rule-based and step up structural reforms to narrow development gap among the member economies.

He called on developed economies to increase support for developing ones in structural transformation and improvement of governance capacity in order to help the latter strengthen connectivity in the digital age.

He took the occasion to brief about recent developments in Viet Nam, including the approval of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership in a bid to reaffirm the country’s determination to pursue comprehensive reform and active international integration.

Joining a network of 16 free trade agreements, both bilateral and multilateral, PM Phuc called on businesses to put forward policy recommendations and share experience so that Viet Nam could boost digital economy development./.
