VN confirms the sixth A/H1N1 death

VGP – A 19-year-old girl died of A/H1N1 influenza, bringing the number of A/H1N1 deaths in Việt Nam to six, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported yesterday.

Earlier, the MoH confirmed five deaths in Hồ Chí Minh City (3 cases), southern province of Đồng Nai (1 case) and the central province of Khánh Hòa.

The latest victim was a resident in Chợ Lách District of the southern province of Bến Tre, who was sent to hospital in the conditions of high fever and shortness of breath. The patient died after seven days in isolated treatment with Tamiflu.

The MoH also reported 220 new swine flu cases of which 150 were found in the south, 35 in the north, 24 in the center and 11 in the Central Highlands.

By September 13, Việt Nam had confirmed 4,467 A/H1N1 cases and six deaths.

Among those patients, 3,350 had left hospitals. The rest are being isolated and treated in clinics or at homes under stable condition./.
