VN confirms five new COVID-19 cases

VGP - Five returnees from the US and Russia have been confirmed the latest COVID-19 cases in Viet Nam, raising the patient tally to 401, the National Steering Committee reported Wednesday morning.

Patient 397 is a 58-year old woman residing in Ho Chi Minh City. After landing at Van Don International Airport on July 16 on flight VN1 from the US, she was sent to a centralized quarantine camp in Chi Linh District of the nearby Hai Duong Province.

She is being treated at Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The other four patients were among passengers onboard the flight VN5062 from Russia (transit in Belarus). All of them landed at the Van Don International Airport on July 17 and being treated at Hoa Binh Province General Hospital.

Patient 398 is a 25-year old man residing in Nam Dinh Province.

Patient 399 is a 25-year old man residing in Hung Yen Province.

Patient 400 is a 25-year old man in BaVi District, Ha Noi.

Patient 401 is a 24-year old man in Nam Truc District, Nam Dinh Province.

With the above four cases, 16 passengers on the flight VN5062 have been confirmed contracting the virus.

Viet Nam has entered the 97th day without recording new COVID-19 community infection case by Wednesday.

Of the patient tally, 261 are imported cases and 365 patients have been cleared of the virus.

The nation is placing 12,484 people, who have been in close contact with COVID-19 cases or come from the pandemic-hit areas, under medical surveillance, including 114 at hospitals, 11,239 at centralized quarantine sites and 1,131 at places of residence./.
