VN commits to ASEAN agreement on disaster management
VGP – Vietnamese Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải recently agreed with a draft agreement for the establishment of an ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Center).

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) was entrusted to ink the agreement.
The MARD will function as the national focal point for the implementation of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) and the AHA Center Agreement.
The AADMER came in force since December 24, 2009, containing provisions on identifying disaster risks, monitoring and early warning disasters, prevention and mitigation, response, rehabilitation, technical cooperation and research, mechanisms for coordination, and simplifying customs and immigration procedures.
AADMER also facilitate the establishment of the AHA Center to undertake operational activities under the Agreement./.
