VN, China look to transnational economic zone

VGP – The fifth economic conference between four northern Vietnamese provinces and Chinese southwestern province of Yunnan will take place in Hà Nội on November 19-21.

The four Vietnamese localities include Hà Nội, Lào Cai, Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh.

The event will focus on such major cooperative issues as trade and investment, tourism, transportation, education and training, culture and sports, healthcare, epidemic prevention and agricultural development.  

Regarding the area of trade, participants will discuss on possibilities to set up free trans-border trade zones, tax-suspension depots, and bonded areas in conformity with a master plan in the interests of all stakeholders. 

Especially, the meeting will talk about a plan on the construction of a transnational economic zone between Kim Thành (Lào Cai) and Beishan (Yunnan).

As scheduled, the economic zone will be a good play-ground for investment projects of the two countries’ enterprises. 

In addition, infrastructure and transportation construction will be another topic for discussions at the upcoming conference.

So far, Chinese businesses have invested in 202 projects with the registered capital of US $788.5 million in the four Vietnamese provinces.
