VN, China celebrate establishment of diplomatic ties

VGP - The Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Việt Nam-China Friendship Organization held a ceremony in Hà Nội on Friday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (January 18, 1950).

President of the Việt Nam-China Friendship Organization Đoàn Mạnh Giao affirmed that the Việt Nam-China traditional friendship, which was fostered by President Hồ Chí Minh and President Mao Zedong, has been developed constantly.

With efforts from both sides, relations between the two Parties and countries have seen historical breakthroughs. In May 2008, Party leaders of the two countries decided to set up the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership, bringing their relations to a new height.
2010 is also the year when the Việt Nam-China Friendship Organization celebrates the 60th founding anniversary, Mr. Giao said.

He added that the organization would try its best to contribute to developing the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Sun Guoquiang said that 2010 is an important year for the two countries’ relations. He expressed his wish that China and Việt Nam would continue develop cooperation, strengthen neighborliness and boosting the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership.

The same day, in Beijing, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China-Việt Nam Friendship Association held a similar celebration.

Senior Chinese diplomats and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyễn Văn Thơ attended the ceremony along with representatives from the Chinese Party, Government, army and the capital city.
Speaking at the event, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Chen Haosu stressed that friendly neighborliness has been always mainstream of the two countries’ relations since they set up diplomatic ties in 1950.

He stated that boosting the traditional friendship between the two countries would be for the benefits of the two countries and people, as well as for peace and regional development.
