After more than 20 years of renovation, Việt Nam has emerged as an attractive and safe destination for foreign investors, given to its high economic growth and young and well-trained workforce. After joining the World Trade Organization, the Vietnamese market has caught more attention from the rest of the world.

The opening of the Hong Kong-Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce marks a necessary step forwards, following the establishment of the Hong Kong-Việt Nam Business Association. With the opening of the Hong Kong-Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce, bilateral trade and investment cooperation will be lifted to a new height.

After the inauguration ceremony, a workshop on investment in Việt Nam drew the attention of many Hong Kong businesses, including those specializing in real estates and securities market.

Hong Kong is now the 7th largest investor in Việt Nam with US $6.3 billion for 494 projects. Trade and investment ties between Việt Nam and Hong Kong have grown rapidly in the recent years. Last year, the two-way trade turnover reached US $3.05 billion, up 43,7% compared with 2006. In the first nine months of this year, the figure stood at US $2.72 billion, 25% higher than the same period last year and is expected to jump to US $3.6 billion for the whole year.
