VN, Cambodia pledge to boost industrial cooperation

VNGOP – Việt Nam and Cambodia should further promote their cooperation in industrial sector in order to raise their role and position in the region and the world.

Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng made the emphasis on July 11 in Hà Nội while receiving the visiting delegation of the Cambodian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Energy headed by Minister Suy Sem.

Minister Suy Sem reported to the Deputy PM the outcomes of his working sessions with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Resource and Environment and some economic groups.

The two sides had discussed cooperation projects in exploiting iron, bauxite, gas and oil; electricity; planting and processing rubber; and textiles. The Cambodian side asked Việt Nam to draw up a mineral map of Cambodia's northeast. Cambodia also agreed that Việt Nam will build two hydroelectric plants Sê San 1 (capacity 90 MW) and Sê San 2 (420 MW) as well as supported the Việt Nam Coal and Minerals Group to exploit iron mine in Cambodia.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng suggested that, on their good relationship, Việt Nam and Cambodia should deepen cooperation for socio-economic development to bring their friendship to a new plane.

The Deputy PM was delighted at industrial cooperation projects between the two countries. He said that Việt Nam and Cambodia could look forward to projects in exploiting gas and oil, raising cows and making milk products; building railway routes from Việt Nam's Central Highlands to some border provinces of Cambodia; developing education, sports, culture and national defense activities; so that increasing the two-way trade turnover to US$ 2 billion by 2015.
