VN, Cambodia accelerate legislative cooperation

VGP – Viet Nam and Cambodia agreed to step up the comprehensive relations between the two nations’ National Assemblies, enhance solidarity and support each other in dealing with issues of regional and international concerns.

The agreement was made during the talks on August 18 between Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and top Cambodian Legislator Heng Samrin.

Chairman Hung applauded on Cambodia’s socio-economic achievements and shared difficulties and challenges Cambodia is facing, especially those caused by hostile forces to harm the solidarity between the two countries.

He confirmed that Vietnamese NA and people will do their utmost to advocate Cambodia in maintaining peace, unity, independence and development.

The Cambodian leader expressed his hope that Viet Nam will gain more success in the future and the two sides will continue strengthening cooperation to bring the two-way trade value to a more impressive figure the current US$2.5 billion.

The two leaders also vowed to work together for sustainable development of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and foster legislative cooperation between the two Legislatures.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung took the occasion to invite Mr. Heng Samrin and high-ranking Cambodian NA delegation to attend the 132nd International-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Viet Nam in 2015.
