VN, Bulgaria look to strategic partnership

VGP - Viet Nam and Bulgaria have agreed to create favorable conditions for their businesses to develop cooperation in fields of mutual concerns like infrastructure, urban development and public transport, energy consumption, environmental protection, food processing, water management and irrigation.

State President Truong Tan Sang and his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Plevneliev held talks on October 28.

Welcoming the Bulgarian President's official visit to Viet Nam, State President Sang said he sees it as a crucial basis for the traditional and cooperative relations to be furthered.

The two leaders kept each other briefed of the situation of each side and discussed international and regional issues of mutual concerns.

They exchanged views and proposed measures to promote cooperation in economics, trade, education-training, culture-tourism and national security-defense.

They also discussed a new economic cooperation model that is hoped to help upgrade the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in the future.

They highlighted the close and effective cooperation between the two nations at international forums. The Bulgarian President confirmed that Bulgaria advocates peaceful solution of disputes between nations on the basis of international law.

The Vietnamese leader applauded Bulgaria's socio-economic development achievements.

President Rosen Plevneliev affirmed that Bulgaria expects to enhance the relationship with Viet Nam and bring the relations to a new height.

State President Sang thanked Bulgarian leaders for helping Vietnamese living in Bulgaria, hoping that the Vietnamese community will bring into full play their strength to work for the two countries's stronger relationship.

The Bulgarian leader invited State President Sang to pay an official visit to Bulgaria in the near future.

After the talks, they adopted the Viet Nam-Bulgaria joint Statement and witnessed the signing of some bilateral cooperative documents.
