The PM witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on a US$ 600 million strategic cooperation between Viet Nam’s low-cost airline Vietjet and Investec.

Vietjet and Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) agreed to open a direct air route linking HCMC and Brisbane of Queensland State. The route will make its first debut in 2019.

Ms. Julieanne Alroe, BAC CEO and General Director said that travel frequency between Queensland and Viet Nam has yearly surged 8% averagely  over the last five years. The CEO hailed  Vietjet’s decision to select Brisbane as the first destination in Australia as HCMC is one of the five largest market of Brisbane without a direct air route. Ms. Julieanne Alroe hoped that Vietjet would early exploit the route and contribute to cementing and deepening the relations between Queesland and Viet Nam.

On this occasion, Vietjet and Investec signed a financial assistance deal worth US$ 609 million for five Airbus A321./.
