Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh made the statement during his reception for Sri Lankan Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen in Ha Noi on Thursday.

He also highly valued the outcomes of the talks held earlier on the same day between the two countries’ trade ministers. Both sides agreed to lift up the two-way trade value to US$1 billion in the time to come.

Viet Nam expects that Sri Lanka would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese investors to do business, particularly in such fields of petroleum and aquaculture in the South Asian country.

At the talks with Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Badiutheen suggested Vietnamese exporters take part in supplying rice for his country as it is in need of buying about 15,000 tons.

He also suggested Vietnam share more experience to boost exports.

Both sides agreed to soon establish an inter-subcommittee on trade and speed up the realisation of a memorandum of understanding on oil and gas and mechanics cooperation./.
